PS3 News \ PS3 Hacked?

The PS3 has been exploited and backed up games have been played on it.

This is due to an exploit that is still unknown, but does work.

A video is below, and although small and not great quality, well known PSP hackers and scene contributers Matthieluh and Alek (webmaster of the great Dark-Alex), have came out of the dark to claim that this video is real.

If this is true, it is quite doubtful that this will be a repeat of the PSP, due to BLURAY discs high storage capacity.

This is probaly nothing big, but it is still something.

also the fact that you can buy a downloadable version of warhawk and run it of the HDD with no hacking required. I think this is bullsh*t, run resistance off the HDD and then I might take a 2nd look.

@ unhostile, its perfectly legal to backup a game you have paid for. Its called "fair use". blu-ray discs cannot be repaired like other optical media due to the coating on the disc. Games and movies will be scratched by the drives through heavy use no matter how careful you are.

ohh didnt know BR's couldnt be repaired... might consider that EB disc insurace thingy... $5 isnt much.

there are always exceptions to the rule, many mp3s are distributed freely on teh intarweb (TripleJ, NIN's latest release etc etc), it is also ok to download certain TV shows after they have aired.

Homebrew is SOMETIMES for the resons you stated but it is OFTEN to allow for the use of pirate software... BR file size will keep that down for a while as you said.

i dont care anyway, the PS3 does a good job of playing the media i want it too (including my "backups") & i'm happy being able to log into the PSN and Store, something im sure you WONT be able to do with a hacked firmware.
PC for everything else...
