Wow last post was almost a year ago! So, I've recently taken a next gen break and have been playing PS1 games on my 60Gig (160Gig now) PS3. I just finished Final Fantasy 7 again and started number 8. The weird thing is, it doesn't seem to load past the PS1 logo. It's not the disc as I tried it in my PS2 with no problems. If someone else still has their copy can you give it a go and tell me if it loads?

That sucks. A lot of FF fans aren't going to be too happy about that.
It's a good thing I still have my PS2. lol

I still have mine too. But one time when I went to stradbroke Island, I forgot to bring my adapter so I can plug my english plug into the Aus socket. So I resulted in plugging the foxtel cable into the PS2 and it worked and still works but just takes a few mins to get into the game, unless the disc is slightly damaged it can't read it.

I know that the 40gb Ps3 console does not play backwards and was wondering If I had the Ps2 emotion chip from a 60gb Ps3 Could I get it installed into my ps3 and make it work ?

I've looked all over the net and can only find more people with the same problem and no solution. There are a lot more people that have it working fine though. There seems to be no corilation between region, model, disc version (platnium or standard) or the way the PS3 is connected. Whether it works or not seems to be completely random. One possibility is that the people who have it working might not have current firmware, but I don't know for sure.
