Yes they will be, but not all of them... Especially moreso on the Aus/Eur PS3's because they have taken out the Emotion Chip (PS2 Grafix Chip) and will be doing emultaion through a combination of software and hardware (as opposed to the Jap/US PS3's which still have the chip in them and do mostly hardware emulation)...

So what that means for you... the consumer... is that less PS2 games will work with our PS3's than the US/Jap ones... until they improve the firmware enough...

You will be able to soon check the compatability list on the official Playstation website (I think they might be putting it just before the 23rd)

Sony has not said ANYTHING regarding a slimmer PS3, so until someone in Sony says something, please regard this as a rumor

I thought Sony usually updates their PS one year before the launch of the next PS? And giving the fact that Blu-ray players are still massively giganticnormous, shrinking it within a year's time would be costly and tough. Oh well, I'm happy with the size of the current PS3, the bigger the better.
