No idea. I installed Firefox 3.0 RC3, and Help>About shows as "Firefox version 3.0"
It seems less sluggish than RC2. I found RC2 very laggy on my computer.

Beyond Geeks and net junkies, Mozilla may have their work cut out getting people to upgrade. Make no mistake, this is without doubt viral marketing built on an amazingly loyal customer base and if successful (and this thread represents a level of success) will generate a lot of free publicity.

but saying us getting firefox 3 making us sheep is the same as you getting a ps3 or updating ur ps3 is it not? ps3 update their sony to make it better and get more people using it

My point related to the way people embrace this corporatised viral marketing without applying critical thought.
If there was a campaign to buy the latest OS from Microsoft on a certain day in order to break a sales record, the net would crash with the amount of threads and blogs demonising Microsoft. However because it's Mozilla, who have a level of customer loyalty which is to a big part totally undeserved, people don't think twice about waving the flag.
I bought my PS3 as a result of critical thought, research and to compensate for the misery of life.

Just a reminder, as Robert hinted half an hour ago today is "Download Day" for Firefox 3. If you haven't yet downloaded the official 3.0 release, be sure to do it today! Firefox is trying to set a Guinness World Record for the most software downloads in 24 hours. As of 8:30 ET this morning the download page is still pointing to 2.0 and the preview release, but we've got the direct download link here (thanks Timothy).
I've just downloaded it, and am posting this from v3.0 official!!!!

You might need to change the os as this came from a Mac RSS Feed.
UPDATE: Apparently the 'Offical' release time is 3am Sydney time
