Had a weird SMS sent to my phone while I was at work today saying the following "Please call Karen at DNB on 1300305212 quoting #lalalala regarding amount owing on your account before 9pm EST. Reply N to opt out. Thank you.

Me being a idoit I called the number without doing a google search of it first, Went to a Indian call centre that say I have a "debt" and wanted my name, address & DOB, I said No and hanged up on them. I then did a google search of the number and found out that its happened to many ppl.

Do you think they hv charged a huge fee to my phone? Rant telstra to check but they are not open til 7am.

definately a scam.. there was something about this on the radio not too long ago where you get charged for calling back / replying to the sms. It's not going to be a huge amount though, prob 50 - 100

those are underhanded, but they are still legal and they do show you the fine print. the ones like the OP posted are the lowest of the low.
