Social \ NTSC-J or PAL?

Ok Guys I'm in a bit of a dilemma...

I got offered a deal that couldn't be refused for my 60gig Playstation that just went out of warranty....

A Brand New XBOX ELITE + $500

So I took it and decided to get a 40gig PS3 as I can upgrade the Hard Drive AND I never play PS2 games....

BUT EVERYWHERE near where I live seems to be out of stock. No one can give me a date on WHEN they will get stock, although EB Games think they might by Friday OR Gametraders on Monday next week....

Anyways I have been offered from a Forum Member to buy a White PS3 40gig brand new for $550 + Postage. It's an NTSC-J machine, but I have a HD TV so all the games will work on it....

ORRRR I can buy a PAL Machine when they come in stock for $699

What should I do? All I know is that I want the console before the 22nd so I can still play my pre-ordered copy of Haze

Think you got the price wrong there, was in EB in Ringwood and that pack was over $700.

2 things you have to consider: warranty and movies. Check if you can get warranty somehow. The most common problems to PS3 atm is bluray dying. I made a guide to fix this: www.myps3.com.au/
Second you won't be able to play any pal DVD and bluray movies so you cannot rent movies, although you can use your xbox to watch DVD. Now if you tend to buy your bluray movies from amazon US, which are cheaper, then you won't have any problems.

Think you have your numbers wrong, aside from that being ridiculously cheap, it seems weird that any company would have a price that ends in 6.

Anyway, when I went to chaddy last weekend, they had plenty of GTA + PS3 packs (and GTA incidently) available but at $744.

I believe it's $546 plus a PS2 and 12 PS2 games ...
