Goldeneye - possibly the best console FPS ever made!

wii news: Classic N64 shooter GoldenEye could still find its way on to Wii's Virtual Console despite the many licensing issues, so says president of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime.

Wii's Virtual Console enables gamers to download and play classic games and Nintendo has promised to make between one and five titles available every Monday.

When it comes to naming classic Nintendo games the Bond FPS GoldenEye will be high up any gamer's list as it sold over eight million copies and is still seen as one of the best shooters ever made.

Unfortunately developer Rare is now owned by Nintendo's console rival Microsoft and the 007 licence is owned by publisher Activision, which means there are problems to overcome.

Speaking to MTV.com, Fils-Aime addressed the issue and mentioned that there were "a lot of issues there," but then added: "suffice to say we would love to see it, so we're exploring all the rights issues".

So there is still hope...

Would anyone else be super keen on the idea of downloading Goldeneye on the wii and playing online???

That would be awesum!!!!

If they do obtain the rights to the game then i will definately be buying a wii as well.

Yah but im an adult now and my mates arent over at my house every arvo.

I get bored too easily playing the misions alone.

Reggie Fils-Aime has stated he will do whatever it takes to secure this game for VC. Even without mates to come play it (well, now that i have a missus, her 2 brothers would be mad keen) the single player was great and unlocking every cheat was a massive challenge (i did it over 10 times though). I know Paper Mario 64 will be the next one added to VC, Nintendo seems to be a little greedy when it comes to N64 VC games so far, with only there own games coming on board. Once they are out the way, 3rd party games can come in. I know for a fact Shadowman is coming to VC so there is at least that 1 3rd party game.

I tell you what if they remade the game with next gen graphics id buy it - even if it had the identical gameplay.

I reckon it would be another massively huge success!!!

But i guess thats an impossibility now...

That didn't make much sense. Exactly what is about to change? The game itself is changing, or the best game ever released is changing?. When this thing hits the Virtual Console, Wii sales are going to skyrocket. I wonder what the chances are Nintendo will as Activision or someone else to remake the game from the ground up for the Wii...my god. Can you imagine the sales spike. Halo 3 couldnt even match that behemoth. Unfortunalty it won't happen, wityh Goldeneye getting a VC release Wii sales will still spike tho.

Nah i would be meaning on a console - PCs are too expensive for gaming.

At least when you buy a console you dont have to upgrade it for a few years.

And i spend so much time at the computer i'd rather not play my games on one too!

I have always been a console fella.
