Well if he spells write with a g-h then im guessing so lol And dude, thats easy man - start where its obvious. Target audience... obviously its a sexy teen magazine for girls, so how would that influence the audience? Fashion, makeup, designer labels - if they see that in the magazine and it looks good then it'll more than likely influence their decision to buy it themselves.

Also you can see its meant to be read by teenagers because it deals with issues like sex, dating, shopping, and eating disorders - which are all examples of what teenage girls are more than likely to think about 99% of the time. If it were a political magazine the target range would be 40yo+, if its a surfing magazine then its probebly males between the age of 13-27. And i know it says "Womans" magazine, but every single article and photograph on that cover indicates otherwise. So talk about that as well.

No problem... i was good at this sorta **** when i was in high school. My teacher loved to checkout magazines and make us all think about what they "really" meant. Oh, and if you ever come across a chocolate-ad exercise where there are all these women eating candybars the answer is "sex". Its always about sex. Sex appeal... you see the candybar is meant to represent a penis, and the licking and sucking/biting is... well... you get the idea. Not only is the chocolate supposed to be tasty, but subconciously people get horny when watching chocolate ads. Seriously

Yeah, and dedicate a whole lot on how they 'prey on the insecurities of young women' etc.

Just mention that anywhere for free brownie points.

Haha...I never thought about it that way...

I don't think I've ever had to do picture analysis, as I do english literature. I must say that it's not much fun though. Analysing those images is easy, but writing essays is not

As for the article, it is definitely directed at a teen audience. The colour is typically associated with girls (that's not a very good interpretation though), but of course the issues are those that a large proportion of the female teenage population would think about.

Today's world is clearly not a utopia. People are constantly worrying about their self image (especially the said audience), and thus compensate by reading such magazines to help them improve their self image.

I also think the article has a very narrow perspective, and perhaps does not encourage suitable or ideal behaviors that should be promoted. While it is certain that teens...

should be aware of such issues, the way in which they are promoted is clearly flawed. It is encouraging dieting and having the ideal figure, which could lead to eating disorders...The major focus of practically every word or section on that magazine promotes ideal image. It suggests that teens should look like models and actresses.

Of course, a feminist view could also be applied, being that women are treated as objects of sexual pleasure. The insinuation of "poses you wouldn't strike at home (and a man wouldn't strike anywhere)" is that you should show off your body in inappropriate ways...

To me the magazine is actually more anti-feminine than anything. Feminists dont usually like to look at themselves, or females more particularly, as objects of desire or try and tell each other they have to work on what they have. "Hate your body; we show you how" is direct evidence of this. To me they're aiming at insecurity more than anything, and not independence. Once again, something a woman's magazine would unlikely have - thats why it appeals more to a teenage audience. But hey thats just my opinion... doesnt mean im right, thats just what i think.
