News \ Mercenaries 2 Delayed?

Pandemic's Mercenaries 2 is supposed to be blowing crap up this holiday season, but it looks like the game may need a bit more prep time before it's ready. EBGames is now listing Mercs 2 as shipping in April of 2008. Of course, retail release dates aren't to be taken as gospel, but a gaming enthusiast site claims to have confirmation of a delay straight from Electronic Arts.

ActionTrip is reporting that a spokesperson for EA stated that although a final release date has not yet been set, "[we] can confirm it will be next year."

When contacted by IGN, another EA representative would only reaffirm that Mercs 2 has been scheduled for a holiday 2007 release.

Pandemic also avoided confirming a delay.

"We have made no announcements regarding a final release date for Mercenaries 2: World in Flames at this time," a Pandemic spokesperson said. "However, please stay tuned for the full scoop on exactly when you'll be bringing the destruction home in the near future."
