If you downloaded it from the site man just stick it on a usb flash drive and go into settings on your PS3 then system update and finally select update via storage media!

AHHH!! Someone help me!! I downloaded it on my PC last night, then put it on a flash usb drive put it in the PS3 and tried to update using storage media and it keeps coming up with No Applicable file for update?
Do i have to put it in a folder or what? I thought it would just pick it up???? Please someone help ASAP

Create a folder named PS3 on the USB device. Within the PS3 folder, create a folder named UPDATE. Put the firmware you just downloaded into that UPDATE folder. Make sure the folders names are in uppercase letters. Make sure the filename you put in the update folder is named PS3UPDAT.PUP otherwise it won't recognise it! Then insert you usb device into PS3, go to System Update and Update via Storage Media again!

Sorry about that HiHoSylvia mate I didn't realise you had to go through all that since I've never downloaded it from the PC before but I managed to find out those steps for you that should work!
