I plugged the PSeye into my mates macbook pro and the microphone worked but no camera but haven't properly checked yet

It sounds like you're getting a reverb problem Guyver... try and move your MIC (pseye) around the room to find a position where the sound waves from your surround system do not clash into it... draw a diagram if it helps... the main problem is its' a 4 array mic, which means it'll be sensitive regardless... Good Luck!
