In short no.
If you want to watch files in MKV your going to have to convert them first to either DviX, AVC, Mpeg2 or WMV

not 100% sure on the specifics but MKVs are just packaged files... so it contains the video stream like an mpeg4 or something... there must be a way to do it somehow without having to convert them. i hope so ive got plenty of these.

You can use Tversity to transcode and stream. Although I have problems getting mkv embedded subtitles to work but other people have better luck.

Yeah, i wanted to avoid using windows as i don't have a windows server. only linux. I was just hoping that i didn't have to transcode and stream.
Has anyone got linux on their ps3 and used vlc to play media? any good?
