News \ Brit PM wants less violence in games
British PM Gordon Brown, talking to UK Newspaper The Sun about his government's policies on knife crime in the Britain, has said that he believes video-games are a cause for convern.
"I am very worried about video and computer games", Brown said. "No one wants censorship or an interfering State... But the industry has some responsibility to society and needs to exercise that."
In September of 2007, Brown stated that his government would take a stricter stance on violent video-game, amid a flood of concern from parents whose children were playing explicit games.

Lewace11 said: eL Oh eL, After Tony Blair was finished being Prime Minister for GB, he got a job as a peace consolite in the UN, to STOP the war in Iraq.
I'm not really political, I don't like to get involved, but Ironicy how the second person to declare war on Iraq was running the team for bringing peace there.
lol That is actually quite funny. I wonder why as PM he wanted the war, but now he doesn't.....? Hmm.....maybe he wanted the war to stay on Bush's good side?

Fly, Tony Blair retired a few months back, which leaves this guys as PM. Or something like that...
Anyway, there's also violence in the news every day. How many times have there been footage on tv of terrorist attacks and the aftermath?
If anything the news has desensitised most, if not all, people to violence more so than video games.
In fact the news is far worse. After all, it's real violence and suffering, unlike games which everyone knows is fake.

i thought the brits pm was tony blair ? oh well..... he probably dosent like then because some people are more inpressinable than others (skitsefrenics a.c.c people etc) and some peoples life may suck which would make them emotionly unstable than others, then all it takes is an emotionally unstable person to learn how to strangle someone with a plastic bag (manhunt 2) thats my say anywho

i must admit the amount of killing in games almost sickens me..
i can see where he's coming from with this, but he's looking in the wrong places, it's not the game, it's the 'at-risk' people playing the games. and because there isnt really a way to filter at-risk from casual gamer etc, short of building a giant bubble around europe, he ain't gonna stop anything, just make the games more desirable to those who shouldn't have it. this is probably the reason for the R18 rating on GTA4.
I must admit that it is fun being able to shoot randoms, and use the footpath as a drag strip
i know it's not real

Pfft.... maybe violent video games scare him
But seriously, anyone that has played a violent video game and is in the right mind, can tell the difference between a GAME and REAL LIFE
Either he hasnt ever played a violent video game before, or he is scared of them, take your pick
