You mean 32inch? Because Sony BRAVIAs don't come in the 37s. Also, the only benefit of 1080p is that your PS3 will upscale DVD movies and PS2 /1 games to 1080p as well.
If this is going to be your main TV, then get the 40' 1080p <- in Feb because that's when the prices tend to drop. If you don't really need one right now and are willing to wait, I would suggest you get the newer models in August/September, not only will they be cheaper, but they will have more features.
Otherwise, if the TV you're looking after is a "simple, TV for the small room" then I would suggest you go for the 40inch 720p version, because 32 will look a bit small.
Just keep in mind that TVs may be advertised as "1080p" but they will not display 1080p since the TV can only ACCEPT 1080p 
Remember that TV manufacturers are trying to generalise and even "technicalise" their products. TV resolutions are actually like this:
On the edge of HD: 1280x720
Most 32 inchers and below: 1366x768
MOst 40 inchers and above: 1920x1080

fd3s: I'm not a complete idiot to screens, I've worked in the electronics/aeronautical industry and am a sparky by trade. I used to fix lcd's or mfd's as we called them. I probably know more about av than you think. You nerd burgers thinking your better than people can jump in a creek.

I understand mid 2008 there will be a new release of tv's, and to spend close to $4k on one now I just can't justify.
I'm currently using a palsonic crt, which I haven't bothered to update since It was barely used until I bought my ps3 2 months ago, but sitting infront of it after having a tiptop 1920 x 1080 lcd on my pc does my face in.
after checking out the difference with my own eyes today in the 32" and 40" the 32" isn't too bad, but I can notice the difference, and if the price on 40" is going to drop then meh, I'll be patient.

Chris, if you're desperate for a new TV right now, then get the 720p version in 40inch, because the 1080p TVs will have a market boom this mid-year, with in the introduction of 37inch 1080p sets (why, why ,why????). So you can expect to pay around $2000 to $3000 for a 40inch 1080p TV.

I got my 46" Sony W for $3k (plus a free PS3), and the 40's are already obtainable well under $3k.
