So Amazon.com is wrong, in saying that T3 Rise of the Machines is locked to Region 1?
Kudos: 936

If the region references I gave list T3 as region free, it is region free.
There is no region 1 in blu ray anyhow... They have just given the standard DVD disclaimer.

What do you mean "standard DVD disclaimer"?
I know there's no Region 1. I presumed they meant Region A ...
So Mobe1969, if the site you gave me lists it as Region Free ... I can safely buy it from Amazon.com? Sweet ...

So the unfinished, drm-riddled, anti consumer medium owned and designed by one of the major movie studios which clearly has vested interests looks like its going to win.
Haven't herd news this good since the third Reich swept to power in Germany. Sigh hail "Drm" ray!

You know how Blu-ray movies sold in Austalia will have that "M" in a blue box on the movie case's spine? (for a movie rated M) And the same thing on the front ...
What kind of 'stickers' appear on Blu-ray movies sold in the States?
They dont have stickers. It just has the rating classification printed onto the back of the dvd/blu-ray cover. The American rating that is..for instance my blu-ray of Blade Runner is rated R when its only rated M over here.

Oh cool. Thanks!
And one more question, do Region A blu-ray movies have printed on the back of the cover art what region it's for?
e.g. my Casino Royale (bought it at JB) says for Regions A, B and C, in hexagons ... with the text "ALL REGIONS" underneath those 3 hexagons ...

they just indicate the Region. so if the disc has A, B & C then is all regions.

I'm aware of that. It's just that I was looking at this:
www.dvdtown.com/
(which is the back cover of the Terminator 3 blu-ray case) and I couldn't see any indication of the region.

i would suggest its Region A cause i can make out it saids US & Canada only but i might be wrong here cause my ps3 is Region A and most of my imported BD are the same as your T3..... they have no Region coding indicated...

Have a look here bluray.liesinc.net/ for a list of Blu-ray movies that are region free. Terminator 3 is all regions.

Oh ic. Well, the site Mobe gave me says T3 is region-free and will work on Region B players. Two ebay sellers said the same thing (selling US copies of T3).
It surprises me that there's no region indication on Region A covers. My Region Bs do ...

There was never a contest IMO.
Sony pump way too much money into marketing and the electronic industry to let HD-DVD take its crown.

Well, do you mind explaining why? That way it could keep the conversation going, and get more people to post.
When more people post the less bored I get when online. And when I'm bored online I feel like banning....

i agree with 1aaRon2 from page 2. i think that the name HD-DVD didnt do itself any favours. even tech n00bs who couldnt care less (or understand less) about both formats would choose bluray purely based on name. Bluray "sounds" cool and new. HDDVD has too many Ds in it, and doesnt roll off the tongue very well.
my 2 cents.

Yea, I'll be honest. When I first heard about HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, I thought Blu-Ray was cooler. All because of the name: BLU! Researched a bit on Wikipedia, saw that Blu-Ray could store more GB!
(Until HD-DVD released the triple-layer ... but in my opinion that's cheating. Wait until Blu-Ray has triple layers
)
But yea, a new name can mean a lot. As everyone's already mentioned ... Blu-Ray sounds newer and better, whereas HD-DVD seems to be a minor improvement from the well-known DVD.
