With mine, a hentai tentacle comes out, spills some goo on me and the disc, then goes back inside the PS3? Doesn't this happen to everyone else?

no i didnt say all of them i said the spin is unique, not the ps3 disk drive, the spinning drive is unique to ps3's because NO wii's have them, i never said all ps3's had them, i know tht. but the fact that the disc spins in on SOME drives is unique to the ps3 AFAIK.
Does that make sense now?
Also the ps3 drive is bluray compared to the wii's DVD drive, which makes them ALL unique compared too wii's even though they are slot loading.
Instead of whining about who's right about this **** just play the damn thing, I really don't care any more.
Also just because all cars have an engine does it not make the ones with a different engine in the same model unique.. duh!
So the ones with the spinning drive are unique even to other ps3's because they have a DIFFERENT drive.

First off, the Wii doesn't use a DVD drive.
Secondly, car manufacturers don't use the same engine for every car of the same model. There will be batches that are defective.

I would not really say that is true. 60GB do not really have many other internal features like extra fans or anything, therefore they have exactly the same failure rate.

mine is 3 days old and it spins, first time i put the disk in and it spun i was a bit freaked out, its ok now that i know its normal!!!

Newer models are always better.....
Its not proof, its just common sense. A PS3 manufactured in 2006 vs a PS3 manufactured in 2008. Obviously they would have worked all the tweaks out in the 2008 model and it will be more reliable. (Just an example)

Funnily enough it is just a bog standard dvd drive, you just burn games to blank dvd-rs for backups, you make this statement and then dont back it up by saying wat kind of drive it is. It's just a standard dual layer reader.

Read the disc size 4.7g and 8.5g ie dvd.
Secondly i didnt mean the exact same engine for a model but a series of models I.e. all ford ea's have a 6 cyl stock, if you put a custom engine in that car it is now "unique" ie holdens have 202s fords don't that engine is unique to holdens (with the exception of people putting it in other cars.) nobody else makes that size engine.

Mine when a game like virtua tennis is frisbee thrown at the disc drive and hit pefrectly horizontal to the tight fitting disc drive with a tad of friction produces a spinning like entry, I'll try and post it on you tube, the further away you are say 4 metres the better teh spinning effect, also girls love your skills at getting it in the hole from distance!

if the 2008 model is so greater than why do they (they being 40gb) have a bigger failure rate and also to note that i have not actually read of a failure of the straight in blu ray drive so if they were all crappy wouldn't they have fallen apart by now and everyone will be playing 40gb PS3
