PS3 Console \ I can't have my PS3/laptop in living room when my brother wants to play online games on his laptop in his room.

When I want to play PS3 on a much bigger screen and clearer one in the living room or I want to connect my laptop to the TV. My brother always complains that he keeps on getting disconnected from the server when I'm out there 
I have a router in the living room where my parents computer is.
Thanks, PLEASE HELP because it has caused a lot of arguments between me and my brother.

thats the same problem as me, and im on a very fast connection. pretty sure its to do with your wireless router sitch. i have to disconnect my laptop from the net before i play online games on the ps3 or i get disconnections. its cos the modem/router bigpond supplied me is crappy

haha, each machine on your network has to have a unique IP address... something like 10.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.1. DHCP is a way of handing out IP addresses to machines on your network without the need to allocate an IP address to each machine manually.
One of the first things that sprang to mind was maybe a couple of your machines have the same IP address. If you aren't using DHCP, then you could check them. I think DHCP is enabled by default with the routers Telstra send out.
Although you also said that it happens when you just connect your laptop to the TV? Is that using the internet too, or just connecting to the TV will do it?

with mine it only seems to happen when im playing a game with chat features enabled.....other little games like pixeljunk, poker, folding etc i can do with both devices online without a problem.
its like it only fails when i try a game with a bit of extra "oomph"
