But then I remembered that it supported trophies, so I added it back on my "to buy" list
Trophies are now becoming a major factor in games, if a game has trophies it makes it more popular to buy

Yea, originally ... I was considering not buying SOCOM Confrontation because it was an online multiplayer game only. I'm not that big of a online gamer e.g. I own Warhawk but I haven't played it in AGGESSS.
But yea, that might change for the sake of earning those trophies ...

How very sad and kind of pathetic. 
Personally, for me, getting trophies is like "Oh Hey! Look at that! I got a Trophy!" The availability of Trophies would certainly not sway any purchase decision I was going to make.

Everyone has their own opinion on the idea, but I think it's fantastic (very obvious hey? haha)
I just hope that:
[1] it becomes compulsory in future PS3 games, and
[2] maybe somehow show on the game cover art that it supports trophies? I guess this wouldn't be important if #1 was achieved.

Uncharted Trophies coming soon, details revealed
We here at PSU have been looking forward to plowing through the lush jungles of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune yet again, but we've been holding off until the game's upcoming Trophy patch becomes available. Thankfully, we won't have to wait too much longer.
The folks over at Naughty Dog sat down and chatted with IGN about Uncharted's Trophy patch. The following details were revealed:
-There will be 48 Trophies in Uncharted; 47 Trophies for finding treasures, participating in hand-to-hand or gun combat and the like, one platinum Trophy for unlocking all other Trophies
-The Trophies are tied to the medal rewards which already exist in Uncharted
-It's not possible to attain all Trophies in one playthrough
-To earn Trophies, you must start a new game without any medals or rewards unlocked (if Trophies could be earned retroactively, cheating could occur)
-No other additions or changes outside of Trophies will be in the patch
-Although there's no set launch date, the patch is arriving soon
That's all there is for now. We'll inform you when the patch's release date is announced.

Because the trophies are all worth a set amount of "points" and you can only have so many points per game.
So the dev can chose if they want to make a lot of little bronze trophies or just a few silver and gold ones.
The points from your trophies go towards you PSN accounts level, and full retail games have more points than the smaller PSN downloadable games.

yeh I think that every game has a platinum trophy that you get for getting all the other trophies in the game.

I dont think you do. I have a friend on my friends list who has 100% trophies for SSHD but he has no platinum trophy
