Social \ help installing ubuntu 7.04

im trying to install ubuntu 7.04 on my ps3 but im having trouble heres what ive dont so far
1.format my hdd (custom->allot 10gb to the OS) ps3 auto restart
2.put in the ubuntu live cd than goin to system setting->install other OS. but an error occurs "NO applicable installer was found"

i think im missing a boot up file....some help plz

you need to put the Kboot files on a USB drive, the Cd just contains the files for the OS but the Kboot stuff contains the install instructions
also you need a USB keyboard to do this or else it wornt work.

After that it says kboot: and when I press enter its goes down a line and says kboot: again

and i finally got into UBUNTU!

yes, it is very very slow. I remember I spent nearly 2 hours for installation and just tried couple hours then deleted the system.....
U should try yellow dog, I think maybe now it is a little bit better than before~

And do you NEED a USB drive to install Linux and if so, what size is sufficient? I've got a fresh 250gb HDD to put in there as well to replace the 40gb that i can replace the new HDD's caddy.
