Online, PSN and Hosting \ PS3 and Ethernet Cable Issues(locked) - Locked

Hey guys,
So my struggle to get my new PS3 online continues. I gave up on the wireless connection and tried going wired with a ethernet cable. As I was plugging it in I noticed the head of the cable wouldn't click in as it would if I was plugging it into the back of a PC.
My question is this, 'Am I missing a certain way of doing this or is it either my cable or PS3?

make sure the ethernet cable is properly inserted. Just push the cable firmly into the ps3 slot. Then you may want to go to settings->systems and restore default settings. Then you will reboot and put in your correct settings and the internet connection should work.
