I rekon in the future, they won't call HD, HD the'll just call it standard defenition. Does anyone else think it'll get better than HD? or maybe better than 1080p? 2080p maybe?

doubt it though, who would suddenly call dvd vhs?? thats not going to happen its like calling a World of warcraft and then in 5 years time going nup that game sux lets rename it world of crappy warcraft.

HD 1080p will be the standard for a very loooong time.
Australia's so far behind that very few TV stations broadcast HD shows at the moment.
TV's for that matter will jump ten fold in contrast levels
displaying 100,000:1 ratio. pretty impressive

just heard you know blue ray is like 50 gig toshiba have just announced they have done it a HD disc with 51 gb there really is not much diff now 
i was all pumped with blueray thinking it was king (the selling point of the ps3 for me)

I find it stupid how they advertize the ps3 bluray disc being the dual layer disc, It is so misleading.

blu ray dual layer - 50g
HD DVD - 15g
HD DVD Dual Layer - 30g
dvd - 5g
DVD Dual Layer - 8g

Once you reach a certain resolution the human eye is unable to notice the difference if you increase it. So until our eyes evolve 1080p will be sufficient. Lets not forget game developers are saying it will be very difficult to run games in true 1080p resolutions.

Ridge Racer runs in 1080p resolution with a smooth framerate.
