Look, this year there's been like ten public betas of FPS's and the like announced, starting with Bungie and Halo 3... I don't remember that many betas last year, or the year before...

Oh, and Hogan, you're confused again. All games go through a beta, but not a public beta... that seems like this years trend...

Ill explain why this is happening now .I can understand how a non-gamer such as yourself may become confused.
Well as you said all games have a Beta stage at some point in there production but with the release of Next-gen consoles they can be made available to us due to the fact that now most consoles are connected to Live etc.So the companies are testing the market by releasing Betas/Demos and can see the interest in the game long before the final is sold as a hard copy.
Understand..i hope that wasnt confusing.

Wow, that makes lots of sense... I think you're the one who's confused... like I said, public betas started on "next-gen" consoles with the Halo beta on 360... you just justified what I said. Public betas are a new thing...

Yeah, I totally said all of those things... my first console was a Super Nintendo and I hated it because my dad had heaps of PC's sitting around the house... we sold it and I played Doom. Your point?

No, I didn't. I have no idea where my parents sold it, but I'm pretty sure Ebay wasn't around in 1994

Ummm i was a beta tester for Windows 95... Also did beta testing for a few games back in the mid 90's. Public Betas arnt new or a new trend, its just now they are more publicised now than they were 5 years ago so to some they may seem like a 'new trend'.

Where did the 'copying bungee' come from? They sure arnt the first to offer a beta.

Ahhhh im with ya now so basicly then the world began with Bungee, glad we cleared that up bwahahahhahaha

I remember beta testing a game many many years ago now, it was based off SpaceHulk, with 2D top down command view and 3D first person view. Altho at the time i didnt know about spacehulk or warhammer. It was one hella cool game.. Shame it never made it to the stores.
