News \ Gran Turismo 5 still no damage
If you're a Gran Turismo fan then it's been a disappointing few years. First details on Gran Turismo 5 were released back in 2005. Late last year Gran Turismo HD was released on the PlayStation Store, with a few minimalist options.
Now, Gran Turismo director Kaunori Yamauchi has revealed whilst speaking to US based magazine Car and Drive that the earliest that Gran Turismo 5 would be released would be Spring 2008. Yamauchi has also revealed that the date could be pushed back to the end of the year if the team needs more time.
What takes so long when it comes to Gran Turismo?. Well according to Yamauchi it's taking 180 days for someone to build a car in the levels of detail required for Gran Turismo 5 in comparison to 30 days for Gran Turismo 3 and one day for the original title. Disappointingly it's also been revealed that crash damage for the game will not be in the title because some companies don't want to see their beloved vehicles smashed up.
Yamauchi hasn't ruled out adding crash damage as downloadable content.

I have allways been a racing, Gran Turismo person and I think having crash damage combined with the in-car view, would create the most realistic game ever to be made!

Crash would be good, adds more dynamics to it. If you dont like it then turn it off at the option screen ^^

Yeah i mean if you buy both games than crashing isnt really all that big of an issue as you have them in Burnout.

does it really matter not like its going to be here soon i just read on kotaku.com that we are looking for a spring release 2008 and if it needs to be polished up it will be delayed further so maybe 2009 b4 we see it so by then there will be better games that would be worthy subsitute

I reckon Burnout Paradise and possibly even Juiced 2 will be more fun than GT5, but they wont look as good.

Yeah gran turismo bores me to tears these days, dirt is an awesome racing game though, apart from the lack of good multiplayer of course.

It is abit of a shame but i guess polyphony digital likes to stick to its original formula.
