News \ Ghostbusters game canned? ***UPDATED***
Update (9:40am, July 30th): We have just received confirmation that the Ghostbusters game has not been canned. *phew*
According to GamesIndustry.biz, Activision has canned the upcoming Ghostbusters video-game. We can hear a united cry from babies of 80s.
Activision Blizzard submitted its latest release schedule with no mention of Ghostbusters or Double Fine's Brutal Legend.
The future is similarly bleak for Vivendi Games Mobile and Sierra Online, with Activision publishing CEO Mike Griffith talking about a new direction for the company.
"We are focused on improving efficiency across the combined organization and are concentrating on businesses where we have leadership positions that are aligned with Activision Publishing's long-term corporate objectives," he said in.
"We have conducted a thorough review of Vivendi Games' brand portfolio and are retaining those franchises and titles that are a strong fit with our long-term product strategy. We are reviewing our options regarding those titles that we will not be publishing."
While it hasn't been officially announced, its disappearance from the release schedule has definitely raised some eyebrows. More as we get.
