Sony had high hopes for the for Playstation 3 sales in Australia during the holiday rush predicting the console would sell 160,000 units by the years end. They've fallen just short of this goal but not by much with the PS3 reaching just over 155,000 sales in Australia by the end of 2007, with 48,000 of those being sold in the last quarter of the year.

These sales figures come off the back of the introduction $699 40GB model in October of 2007 to replace the $999 60GB model of the console. The PS2 has also continued to sell well by almost doubling it successor with 81,000 units being sold in the 4th quarter of 2007.
