I started a scan on my computer this morning, before TAFE, then seven hours later it was still scanning.
I stopped the scan and a bunch of strange things showed up in the scan overview page thing. I haven't deleted anything yet because I'm worried about deleting an important program. I think my computer has a virus too.
Anyway, I've contacted the people who make my security software. They have something were they can fix everything over the internet. It will take about 24 hours for them to get back to me, but until then...... I'm worried though. Not happy either.

but yeh full system scans can take forever if you have a lot of stuff and a slowish computer i know mine takes a good 4-5 hours to do one. but then again i do have alot of crap on my computer

Well, I'm doing a virus scan at the moment (yes, I am going to keep everyone up to date on my computer problems whether they like it or not ). So far everything looks ok. *checks progress of scan* Yep, so far so good.

When you get a chance, try doing a virus scan in safe mode. It'll catch more virii than the regular virus scan for some reason.
To enter safe mode, press f8 towards the start of the windows loading/boot thing.

yeh when you turn your computer on just press F8 untill you get the option to start in safe mode it will look really weird but it will go back to normal next time you restart.

Anyway (yes, another update on my computer ), everything seems alright now. I've done a few smaller scans and nothing nasty was found. So later tonight (after TAFE) I'll check out those things mentioned at the start of this thread.
Thanks again guys. Good to know that the little pixies living inside of my computer are helpful.

all i know is you need download speed to receive data from the server and then you need upload speed to send data to the server.

doesn't matter if you host an online match, same thing applies

if you host an online match you need a higher upload speed, depending on the game and the amount on people playing.

for example. If you have only a 128Kbps upload speed people will only be able to download data off you at a maximum speed of 16 kilobytes per second, so you won’t be able to host a big online game at all. You will be able to play online games fine but you most likely wont be able to host games on your connection
