What i like about retro gaming is that it was so simple. You didn't have to worry about graphics or online play. It all matter how good you were at the game and that you have 2 litter bottle of Shasta and your mix tape

Oh and seeing those 8-bit characters was just so retro that i can't believe my parents actually had fun playing this when they were gamers themselves

I loved playing my Atari (which is still in my cupboard) and all those awesome side scrolling games and the space invader type games. As K-man said, the graphics didnt matter, just the gameplay, and thats what made a game back then. And alot of them are still classics and people still love playing them even on good machines like xbox you can mod it and pop in a MAME disc and play away.

1992-1994 is that Retro? I remember coming home from school & rushing to the arcades to play Street Fighter 2 & Sega Rally,everyone would gather around SF2 to watch,and any challenges would place their 20 cent coins on the screen to show who's next,my fondest memory was defeating 10 human opponents in a row, and then finishing the single player for the first time with RYU,great times

I used to love playing Galaga for hours at the arcade at our caravan park that we used to go to on weekends near Bendigo, I cant tell you how many 20 cent coins went into that machine over the few years the game was there. Also playing Commodore 64 with my brothers, playing games that were on tape (could you imagine that now LOL). I am OLD SKOOL. Years later I found new games to be obsessed with like NBA Jam that didnt cost me 20 cents to play but $1 , now were paying sometimes over $2 per game, I miss the 20 cent days.

i can still remember playing on those old machines. i used to love playing the classic, "street fighter," and an even older console was the ATARI(which we owned along with the coleikavision? ? not sure on the spelling) i think with the game called "BARN YARD" lol..... that was fun, THEN....lol oh and CAT AND MOUSE i think it was lol

But the best thing of all was we found a key for the arcades at the local shop so we opened them, and gave ourselves 1000's of free credits, so we had a fun day!!!

I just loved the way older games were designed - simple yet addictive and some are more addictive then the games out now. Classics like TMNT Arcade took a lot of my hard earned coins back in the day. Damn that game was good.

I love retro games because they bring out what's best in gaming. They bring forth a shining light leading to a new righteous path of fun. Like treading softly through a meadow of newly blossomed flowers. Sadly, those classic old gems, that we all spent hours playign are nearly lost to us, except in multi game packs from Sega and their friends. So we should all buy those said packs and refresh out tired gun-sore eyes and experience the simplicity the space invader, the "pac" of the Pac Man, the "mario" of ... the Mario, and the "Kong" of the Donkey.
(ok... anything for a medal!)

I remember my first gaming experiences and they were some of the greatest experiences ever, and it was due to the simplicity of these retro games. Graphics were average, but developers made sure that controls and gameplay were fantastic. Think about it, less to worry about in the way of graphics, sound, story, voice actors, more time to develop the core of game = some of the greatest games ever

Thats not to say I don't love new games that are out now though
