Actually there have been many other console skate games that weren't in the Tony Hawk series, Skate or Die to name one and Thrasher- Skate and Destroy also another

But yes, this is sure to kick the ass out of THPS, as this is more of a sim rather than a crappy button masher

Less about 10 million point combos and more about three trick lines.

The developers asked themselves 'would people watch this style of skating if it were a movie'

Thats a good angle.

as long as its free roam, they should make it like a seamless world where you have to skate a round to find missions and stuff.

Kinda like WOW, but with skateboards

It should be more simulated.

Like you have to learn to ollie properly ON UR FIRST CRAPPY SKATEBOARD. Then shove it, kickflip and so on progressively so you cant just rip like a pro straight away.

You should be playing as one of two people - the camera guy or the skater.

You should have to position stationary cameras to get the best footage of your tricks for stills.

After you complete a predetermined line of you choice you should then play as the camera player and skate along side and film the action.

As you produce and sell this footage you should earn cash to buy a new deck and better gear.

THATS HOW THIS GAME SHOULD BE MADE!

I have played both skateboarding demos (THPG and SKATE) and my opinion is that EA's SKATE is better Tony Hawks Proving Ground. The graphics are better, the gameplay and the controls. I would definatly buy SKATE, rather than Tony Hawks.

The slow mation video replays are so good!!!

The motion of the board looks perfect.

Mate, it makes the hawk games look and 'feel' like crap, and I've had a few of them. It's such a good quality game and I've only played the demo. It just feels so right.

I'm actually thinking of buying this game even though I'm past that skating stage, just because its a lot of fun to play.

This game rocks, the graphcis are sweet, the movement is sweet, it really is a realistic skater game and is SO much fun. the ONLY downfall that I could pick with this game, was the face that you can't walk, so sometimes curbs and stairs can be super frustrating.
