You all seem to be missing the point here
All the stuff on Commercial radio is made for a the perticular demographic, hence why it's all the pop stuff for the teen girls, the couple of hours that they have for the oldies and all that and keep the general mass happy.
Yes musicians want their music to be heard and pay for it, that's what being a musician is all about. I personally have spent a good year and a half with my band writing our first release and we have put so much of out lives into this that we deserve to get something out of it
But that's not why we do it, we do it as its a chance to express ourselves and create something that can make someone connect to us, even if its only for that 3:10 of our song.
No a song isn't crap because it's on a radio, I am simply stating that radio stations only play specific bands and types of music. When was the last time you heard Head Automatica, The Spill Canvas, Karnivool, Cog, Editors, Coheed and Cambria on the radio, most likely never
People who really get into their music usually will listen to albums at a time and hardly ever listen to the radio.
All in all I respect those bands, they are good at what they do. I have one of the broadest musical tastes ever, right from Billy Joel to Hardcore Stuff down to a little hip hop and then onto punk.
What I am saying is certain people are narrow minded and afraid to check out different styles of music. Also I
