The new Philips Aurea is a gimmick invention that sets the new TV aside from the rest. Basically the lighting tricks the eyes into believing that the colour red is even redder, blue and bluer and so on... Scientists have proven that the Ambilight tech actually helps aid vision and to not strain your eyes when watching TV for too long.
I would not buy the Aurea because it is bloody expensive, $5000 for the 42 inch and you only get average specs such as 1080p, 8000:1 contrast and 3 HDMI ports.
If you're rich then you'd get the Aurea because it is really amazing when you look at it, but what is the point of buying a good looking TV when the screen itself is just average?
Hugo, HD channels don't always show HD contents, and I'm sure the TV that you saw had the "noise reduction" function turned on, which blurs EVERYTHING. It's ironic right? Ha! Noise reduction actually makes more noise on the screen.
