I personally think SONY made a huge mistake here with the changes to the 40gb. Ive said it before & Ill say it again, the 60gb bundle was better value than the current 40gb model for $699. A few retailers do have bundles with the new 40gb model (some offer 3 blu-ray movies for free & some offer a game for about a extra $40 to $50 to the price). People see $700 & think its cheaper than the 60gb model, it wasnt. For $989 I got the 60gb model with 2 games & 2 controllers, the 40 gb model ($699 with 3 movies or $740 with 1 game) 1 controller, only 2 usb, No BC, no memory cards, 20gb less hard drive. You do the math.
EDIT: Its also worth mentioning that as all my PS2 games work on my PS3 I sold my PS2 for $120 on ebay so that reduced the price of my PS3 so I think telling people to just keep their PS2 aint the answer, most of us dont want a heap of consoles plugged into the tv, especially if you also have 1 or 2 of the other "next-gen" consoles aswell.
