But on the serious not..Who here gets random emails from Sony about their console like i do???
ok heres the story. PS3 breaks down...
Sent it to Black town on the 18th Jan
March 18th, While on the phone with customer support, they tell me that my console should arrive in 10-12 days..ok :S
March 28, i get a random email stating that Sony have "received my proof of purchase" :S and that i should "send my console as instructed" etc etc. called the support centre and they told me to disregard it but have more news on top of that. Seems like they've misplaced my console in quarantine and that they had found it and will now be sending a refurb in 15-25 days from then.
Today march 27 i get another random email, this time they said "The unit will be processed for an Exchange within 10 - 12 business days. we will contact you again via email when we have returned a re manufactured unit to you". with the title "40Gb unit is now being processed".
i don't even know what this email means LoL. So i call them up again and they also tell me to disregard it. But thats two random emails which don't even relate to my situation. Its getting weirder!
Thats sony for you.....just plain wierd!

if Sony keep pulling this **** with the PSN.. What a (insert swear word here) joke Sony is becoming.. I think it is falling apart and I am thinking of selling my 60gig PS3.. I bought my ps3 so that I could get all these features and games and what do u get in return nothing... Sweet (swear word) all...

yeah its pretty demoralizing, especially when they have everything you need in their hands and they sorta cant live up to it. Someone from Sony needs to address its customers because most of us care to want to know everything that goes on. 
As for selling ur console, try reconsidering. I mean its ur choice and no ones forcing you otherwise, but it is still a pretty cheap bluray player/DVD player. Hell its a multimedia entertainment system! so if i were you id wait until more better things come...(as expecting).
but yeah if you have anything better to buy then go for it.

I think your just unlucky.........we also got the large 42" Bravia and so far, after 3 weeks the PS3 is going great.....must admit mine does look brand new though and not even a refurbished model....ummmm

Still heard nothing from Sony (email confirming they'd received my unit). Rang them, they said they hadn't got it and for me to chase Post Office thru registered post. By the time i did that Sony had sent me an email saying they had found it, and would get processed in 10-12 working days. That was 8 working days ago...
I would recommend continuously chasing Sony, or nothing gets done.

Thats right call.. everyday if you have to. You have the right to and the service is there..if you wait for the expected time of your consoles arrival or a date which they promised you something will happen, it may not even be done in the first place and the only way you can find out is calling them and hearing the bad news again and again. I suggest calling everyday and just getting a 'status' report from them. Oh and always demand for a reason as to why your console's experiencing delays..then you can fish out if they're lying to you or nor.

Just got an email saying my ps3 was repaired and had been sent back to me. We'll see how long that takes......

Right got my ps3 back at last, ps3 only, not all new controllers, leads etc - didn't send them though. I know another member who got a complete new boxed ps3, so ended up with extra leads etc, but i just got the ps3.
Anyway here are the dates for anyone that has to send away for warranty.
Rang/ got email/ posted off to Sony March 18.
Got email from Sony saying they had receiver it Mar 27 (even though i sent it registered and they should have got it by March 20. They also denied having it when i rang, then sent me an email an hour later (at 7pm!) to say they had it.
Got another email saying it was ready April 10.
Received it April 15.
That's exactly 4 weeks from start to finish. My advice, chase Sony, a lot.

You'll find these days for whatever product, if your after warranty service, you will pretty much always have to chase them up to speed up things. Fact of life..
