PS3 Games \ Does the Ps3 make Ps1 games look any different?

I still have some awesome Ps1 games i would like to play through again and since i am getting a Ps3 probably mid '08, i would like to know how they play. Are they upscaled in any way? Do i need a Ps1 memory card. Lol, these are the noobest questions but i wanna know if its worth buying a Ps3 for Ps3 games only and getting a Ps2 for Ps1/2 games. Or just play the Ps1 game on Ps3.

You don't need a PSone memory card. The game data is saved onto the PS3 it's self. But if you have some old PSone memory cards with some data you want to transfere to the PS3, you need a memory card adapter. There's one in the accessories area of MyPS3.
The same goes for PS2 games and memory cards.
As for whether or not the PS3 upscales PSone graphics, I haven't notice any difference. But then again I only have a normal crappy non HD tv.

Yeh the Ps3 will upscale ps1 games up to 1080p. its not going to make a world of difference as the orginal art from the game is still in all its ps1 glory. but if you have a HD tv it looks a little better than just hooking a ps1 up to it.

Yes, it will upscale the graphics, but I haven't noticed any real difference in the picture quality, it's a bit smoother probably but still looks too blocky on my big screen. I reckon it's worthwhile having the PS2 as well since there's so many good games out there that you'll be missing out on. I've got the 60gb console and I still use my PS2 for PS2 games. Plus, it's an excuse to own more consoles which is never a bad thing.

Yeah same here, I have a 101cm HD TV & the PS1 games look crapola.

I cant even imagine how crapola the Ps1 games will look on my 132cm HDTV. Its a projection TV tho, so the picture isn't as bright and colourful, but has no motion blur and less pixelation (due to the fact there are no pixels on the screen). I'll have to see how it all goes.

I've already played my fair share of Ps2 games and i dont have the gaming budget to buy ones i missed out on. Probably the only one i missed which i want to finish is God of War 2 anyway. I traded in all my Ps2 games/console when i got the Wii so i aint going to rebuy a Ps2. I kept the ps1 games i love tho for the day i get a Ps3.

They will still proberly look close to what you remember, just when I played a couple ps1 games on the ps3 I was so shocked to think these games were really cool once & now they just look really old compared to what we are enjoying now. I hadnt played any ps1 games for so long so perhaps it wasnt so much the tv but me luaghing hard at the crappy graphics.

I put FFVII on last night to check the compatability part of the PS3, (not that I didn't believe Sony) anyhow after 3 hours I can confirm PS1 games work on my PS3 LOL Even though I did FFVII to death originally, and the graphics are quite laughable now (certianly on my set-up) I am hooked on the darn game and will now have to go through the whole thing again ! Just as well I kept my PS1 and the games, can go back through Resident Evil (Original !) again after this

No I haven't, as to be honest never knew about it. I have a Wii as well so I may have to invest in it (& Gamecube controller I suppose). Cheers Foetoid, off to 'google' it now....My wife is gonna hate me !

www.ign.com is one of the best sites on the web. In the main search bar, type in Resident Evil and simply click on the Gamecube version for screenshots, videos etc. Also the GC was privvy to the prequel; Resident Evil 0. They also rereleased Res Evil 2, 3 and Veronica X, but didn't remake the graphics like 0 and 1. Being a Res Evil fan and a Wii owner, can i assume you own the best RE game ever; Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition.
