You have no idea do you, about the amount of frieght that goes through a warehouse as big as sony's. Everyday. Its not just returned ps3, its tv's cd players, new stock etc etc.

Console comes in, is confirmed to be Hardware fault (ie: not consumer at fault), ship out refurbished model of same ilk.

1-2 weeks max.

why 5-7weeks? makes no sense.

I call sony, and they have sent me one of those bar codes and told me 25 to 30 days. i told the guy i have a release model 60gb model and he said they are still covering them for a short time. Atleast i dont have to pay for it since i have had it for over a year.

I hope they put the new blue ray chip in it.

Not true. they will give you the option to recieve your console back it just takes even longer.

If you take into equation the amount of PS3's and 360's sold, and the length of time they've both been on the market... I reckon they would be getting pretty damn close by now!

Being the only game outlet in our town, I know how many 360's and PS3's there are around, and I can tell you for certain, there are more 360 consoles than PS3's in this town, yet there have been NO RRoD yet while several PS3's have had/got the Disk Read Error.

Taking into account that the PS3 has only been on the market a little over a year, this is going to be just as damaging for Sony in the not too distant future. At least MS extended the warranty to 3 years. What have Sony done!? SFA!

I opted for the Refurbed one to be sent to me as i was an extra 2-3 weeks.... but the time they quoted me for the return of my original was almost the exact time i got the refurb back

i wish i got my original baby back....just doesnt feel right with someone elses scrap......

i have a good mate who has a 360. he has had it almost since launch and has had zero issues. he is however tired of having to but all Microsoft accessories and also pay for online play membership.

His disillusionment (together with the playing pleasure of a PS3 on my 40" 1080p samsung tv!!!) was seeing him on the fast track to the sony bandwagon. guess what? my issues with sony have stopped him from jumping ship. he CANNOT believe how crap sony after sales service is.

i have always bought sony, never been disappointed. i even stuck with Sony MD and then Hi-MD amidst the iPod revolution. now i am not so happy.

GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER SONY!!!!

I think i got my ps3 back, and they received it on 10/06. The reason i think i have it is because my neighbour had one of those postal slips for a package pickup with my name on it. So thats only two weeks. I think the 35 day thingy they tell you is to cover their ass.

FYI: For some reason Sony believes I live next door, no matter how many times i told them they had my address wrong. A pointer for any one that has to do a warranty call on your ps3, make sure sony have your correct details, because once its in the system only the manager can change it or some bs. And it looks like the manager is lazy and doesnt update.

i've been on the phone trying for an update every week or so. i sent on 31st may. Aust Post confirmed delivery on 3rd June.

sony told me it arrived in their "system" on 11th june (8 days missing) and that the estimated turn around is from THAT date. the 11th.

it's now 1st July.

you dont get a new console you get someone else broken one refurbished or you get your own back. dont know if you get a second warranty though

didn't use cleaning disc etc. normal play/use.

so i JUST got mine in for repair before warranty expired.

and i get 3 more (yay.......) months for replacement.

No, I didnt try a laser kit. I was more worried about warranty as i have had my ps3 since march last year. It seems like many ps3 blue rays are dieing, so personally i didnt mind getting a fresh one.

Frogmars:31st was a Saturday, its more like AusPost processed it on monday.

My dates were 2/06 posted, received at sony on 10/6, called on the 18 (around there) and asked for eta and got told 35days from the 10, then got it back on 23/6. Well, would have been 22nd but my neighbour got the post pick up slip.

They say 35 just incase the **** hits the fan at the repair center. ie the staff all get the flu. lol
