I worked out yesterday how to stream all media using WMP 11. I'm assuming your laptop has a wireless LAN network card as most do these days, if not all.
Turn on PS3 and PC and load up WMP 11.
File>Tools>Options>Library Tab>Configure Sharing
Tick 'share my media' and the PS3 should be displayed in the list of icons as 'Unknown Device', click on that and click Allow then Apply.
This turns your PC into a Media Server, you should now see a WMP icon on the PS3 under Videos, Photos and Music. If not, do a scan for media servers. From this point you do not need WMP 11 executed to stream media across to the PS3, all it needs is for your PC to be turned on.
I haven't experienced any buffering problems, movies, music and photos play instantly on command with full fast forward and rewind options as if watching a movie on a disc.
Hope this works out for ya.
I'm sure other programs may have other features that WMP 11 does not have but this is to stream media on a basic level.
OzTek, what are your reasons for recommending TVersity?
