hey im not good with cabling n stuff, i am going to purchase a 20m cable that will directly connect from router to the ps3, im reading an ethernet cable on ebay and it says that its a "Straight cable - not cross-over cable" what does this mean

Cross-over cables allow you to transfer files across the network, where straight only allows network access; damned if i know why they just don't sell the one. But they also allow direct connection without the use of a network hub or router.

Straight through cables are used when there is a router or network switch involved, whereas cross over is PC to PC connection, or "peer to peer".
So it appears you are looking at the right kind of cable for your setup.

if you just want to connect to your PS3 via router, its doesn't matter its straight or cross-over cable

crossover cables are used in network switches and things. they are usually red.

will work, I have a 50mcable running through the wall and roof connecting my ps3 to the router.

i just have a wireless connection, its reliable and i dont have cables around my house, for big gamers id say ethanet but couse im part time gamer 
i go wireless, and it lets me move my ps3 around the house not just in 1 spot 
eny1 know were i can get a stronger wi-fi card for my ps3??
