The Playstation Network will go down for some time this week while the necessary updates etc. are done to the playstation store.
PSN Service will cease between:
Pacific time (america):
Start: April 14, 2008, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
End: April 14, 2008, ending at 11:00 p.m.
Australia time (GMT+10):
Start: April 14, 2008, beginning at 10pm
End: April 15, 2008, ending at 1pm
New Zealand time (GMT+12)
Start: April 15, 2008, beginning at 00:00 am
End: April 15, 2008, ending at 3pm
During this time i wouldn't be too suprised if online fuction of games stopped working too..
Straight after the maintenace the new firmware will be available.

Nah i dont think COD4 will stop as COD4 onlines runs off there own servers and not Sonys.

Hmm strange, I played on COD4 last update until the ps3 relised there was a new update which caused the PSN to disconnect. Just tried it quickly before I go to work and its still working currently, Hopefully they release some cool things for the ps3 as im really starting to get bored with this big black heavy thing in my room gathering dust. BRING OUT HOME SONY!!!!!

Since you live in Florida, The PSN will be down at 11:00 am instead of 8:00am and will end at 2:00 am.

So it looks as though it won't affect online gaming, just access to the store.

I don't think Home will cause your Sony to collect any less dust than it is now, If GTAIV and MGS4 aren't the reasons you're looking forward to having a PS3 for then you might as well take it back.

Pacific time is roughly american, (washington etc) look it up on wiki or use www.timeanddate.com/ to find it.
The time for washington etc is the pacific time quoted above (8am on the 14th)
use the website i have above to find what your timezone is in comparrison to the 8am washington start time. then add 16 hours to find out when it will be finished.
Then it's time to race in and get the f/w.. well kinda.. 
i hope i can get it before thursday for the Mgo beta.. i really wanna have that by monday and get the most out of it..
