It's worth the hype. You should consider that it's a completely different experience then that experienced in San Andreas. City isn't as big, but there is more to do. There is a bigger focus on relationships and developing friendship with certain people. Also, the way you control Niko is completely different then the way you controlled in previous GTA's. It actually feels like you're controller a real-life human being.

Seriously street dates are just silly. In the US, you know who the biggest offenders are on breaking street dates (wll other than DVDPacific)? The studio's online stores. Warner is consistently shipping releases way before release, for example.

But it is an unnatural practice. The natural purpose of retailing is moving stock as quickly as possible. If the distributor doesn't want them to sell something before release date, don't get it to them until the evening before.
