no, it should come on straight away, the screen should detect that the signal is coming through that input, if you have 2 things going through you would have to select but if it's only ps3, it should be fine

no... monitor aint classed in 'HD' any ways. the highest resolution a 22" can do is 1680x1050. notice the 1050 is just off 1080.. so it can almost do it.. a 24" can do 1920x1200 so as u can see 1080 would fit within the 1200 of the 24" the 22" tho will still look beautiful.
