Before you all rush out and buy this cable, check your monitor manufacturer's website, or the manual, and see if your monitor supports HDCP. If it doesn't you can't connect your PS3 to it, although a 360 will work.
I can confirm a ViewSonic VA1912W doesn't work with a PS3, nor does the LG L172WT.
Pretty sure thats only if u connect to a monitor with HDMI, not DVI from what i have read
Both these monitors where tested using a HDMI->DVI cable.

that wont have DVI it only has VGA... LCD Monitors usually only have DVI, not CRTs

not sure... but i think the ps3 needs a HDCP 'hand shake' to display the picture. search for HDCP, not DVI, but yeah it needs DVI

um if your connecting it to a moniter with speakers built in, you have to get the right cables first, what moniter is it, give me a link and i will tell you what you need

yes it should be fine for picture if you get one of those cables in the original post, as for sound, you may need to use the stereo cables that are with the ps3 and buy an adaptor to change the end of the 2 audio cables into 1 headphone jack
