Anyone had this problem ? Its one of the first models, the *Phat Boi* I think they were called 
- probably had it now for 6-7 years ?? Whenever the PS2 was first released anyway...
Its just not reading discs 'quickly' anymore - have to re-set it half a dozen times to get it to read GH2 and GH3 for example......some other games read first time, but not many...
Is this just a dirty laser or something else that can be fixed quickly ? Its the kids, I have no interest in getting a slimline to replace it, if its a simple fix.....

yep i have that ps2, the original first series fat boy. same problems for me, dvd's wont load and so wont some games. cause; lazer . take your ps2 to one of those computer shops that modify ps2's, and get a new laser installed

same problem with mine. recommend getting a new one, unless the fat boy holds a special place in your heart.

It most probaly is the drive motor wearing out or the laser....either way wont be a cheap fix, be cheaper to get a new one.
