PS3 Online \ Speed Diff. Between ADSL and Wireless Broadband

I am currently downloading the Battlefield: Bad Company Demo. I am using Wireless Broadband in my bedroom and it takes approx. 39 seconds to download 1MB. (I have 256K internet connection, I think).

I calculated that it would download approx. 492MB in 320 Mins.

I will be staying up til 4:00 A.M. to watch Spain .v Russia Euro 2008. So, how much of a speed advantage would I gain if I brought the PS3 into the loungeroom, connect it by Ethernet cable, and continued to download until 4:00 A.M. Would it download faster? If so, how much faster?

Should I just leave it in my bedroom? (Wireless)

OR

Bring it into the loungroom? (Ethernet Cable)

Cheers.

Don't think at that speed it will make much difference, i'm no expert though. I get 1.5MB/s wireless and get no more speed with it hooked up.

(Assuming average 802.11G WiFi setup)

if u have a decent WiFi setup, with good signal strength at the computer u wanna use to download stuff, you should be getting around 10-20Mbps (Mega-bits/second).. Most ADSL connections are either 512Kbps (or 0.5Mbps) or 1.5Mbps.. so your Wifi should not affect ur internet speed at all.

However if your on ADSL2+, most of the time u can average an internet speed of 10-20Mbps so your Wifi can then have an affect.

Adsl and adsl 2 are very very dependent on how far you live from your phone exchange. So while speeds up to 20mbps are possible, it lessens, the further you are away from the exchange, and the quality of the copper line you are using.
