I'm just writing up the review now (will be up on Wednesday) and I was thinking, would I recommend?

I think it's a brilliant game, no doubt, but it's a niche title. I'm not confident it recommending it to the casual gamer. It's beautiful, yes, but so is Apocalypse Now. I wouldn't recommend that to everyone.

Not only for the story, but also because of the stealth and gameplay elements. It's not typical. It's in a league of its own and I think that's what makes it harder to recommend. Anyone agree?

MGS4 is probably the most action-oritentated of all MGS games though. At least I think.

It is. It's a far deeper and more interactive experience. Probably the best online the PS3 has to offer.

Yeh I’d totally recommend MGS4 to people who haven’t played a metal gear before. Or even haven’t played that many games before. While they wont get the full effect of the story. They will still be able to understand it for the most part. Plus the game is just so awesomely fun to play and beautiful. Not every one is going to like it but that’s not unique to Metal Gear.

LK25 is a great example of an adaptable gamer! Whether you started from MGS1, 2 or 3...I don't it matters all that much! Story may be very complicated in MGS4, but the game provides background to the history of the characters and reminiscents you encounter. I haven't MGS1 since the late 90's (never had the original copy! Big mistake!), consequently I've forgotten some characters and some of the storyline!

All that said, if I've never played an MGS game before...no doubt I would've gotten this on first day release...then also go back and scour the earth for the previous prequels!

I'd highly recommended this to anyone with a PS3!!!
