saw it last night at a packed cinema. LOVED IT.
dark, busting with action, and the joker just made the movie, funny and yet completely psychopathic at the same time. sometimes i didnt know if i should laugh at him or chringe!

my fave bits were when the joker made the pencil disappear (into the guys face) and when hes dressed up as a nurse and sits down with harvey dent and casually says 'hi'.

Hahaha I'm the same. Those bits were hilarious. I loved seeing him walking away from the hospital aswell as it was blowing up, and then him mashing the detonator. He's such an awesome freak.

heath ledger shouldnt be commended he is no roll model for kids he is was just another prime example of a prescription drug addict who got what was comming to him in the end

such a waste of life , but he only has himself to blame

he deserves no more appluase then the local redfern junkie

you do realize it was an official "accidental" overdue of drugs that were prescribed to him by a doctor. the autopsy revealed it was only painkillers and sleeping pills, but taken in the wrong dosage (nothing excessive, just a lethal combination)

maybe you should get ure facts right dickhead before you shoot your mouth of about something u have obviously no idea about.

god ure a wanker. he left behind a daughter that meant the world to him, and for you to say he killed himself and he only had his self to blame thats so low, id be ashamed of myself. fair enuff, he might have done a bit of coke, most Hollywood starts have. but to call him a junkie? did you spend everyday with him? were you his best mate? they how the f**k would you know if he was a junkie or not? so let me get this straight? u read the front page of new idea and now ure an expert on heath ledger? yeah good work wanker.

he has a daughter so what ... maybe he should have spent more time with her then living the hollywood lifestyle like mr big shot popping pills snorting lines an partying

why do you think jen broke up with him in the first place ...

he was a drug addict an he has no place as a role model for young australians , i feel no sympathy for him , his family yes , him no

everyone has a choice

seriously, show me where it says he was a known drug 'junkie' as you say, other than in a tabloid magazine. you have no proof he was a junkie, the only proof is he died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. nothing illegal about that.

to remember people for only the worst of what they do is a great way to live (heavy sacrcasim). while were here, lets just cross off some other greats and call them just junkies that got what they deserved... lets see, umm jimi hendrix, jim morrison, who else?

this thread was about the dark knight and how people enjoyed it.
you were the one who got on ure soapbox and started talking about how he died (nothing to do with this thread) and from what i can read, made from your own unfounded conclusions and nothing from actual proof. if you would like to continue that line of conversation please PM me. otherwise leave it at that and i consider this conversation between us closed.

heath ledger was a great Australian actor, he died tragically just as his acting ability was peaking, sure he wasnt perfect. but who is?

NAM187, you keep using the word role model like it should mean something. did he present himself as a role model? did Heath Ledger release a series of self help or motivational books on tape i didn't hear about? The kids that look to actors and athletes for all encompassing life lessons have been severely failed by their parents. i agree Ledger made choices, many of which you oversimplify with ure incredibly immature approach to addiction. addiction is a serious problem i agree, but you might want to consider that the world (and probably ure own life) would be very different without the millions of functional addicts that exist, and certainly don't deserve to be judged by you. Do i need to mention the pettiness and immaturity of judging creative work by the specific people involved? well i just did. you're aggressive tone is incredibly misplaced and sadly says more about you than the issues you address. ps. i liked the movie and thought Heath Ledger was great in it despite the fact that i've never been a huge fan of his acting in the past

ok so its agreed....NAM187 is a moron...right we have that sorted...

now...dark knight...

just got back...and yeh it was awesome..

i actually went into this blind (apart from official clips etc) so a few things surprised me

- batman choosing harvey
- rachel dying...didn't really see that coming, but it set up harvey being so pissed at batman well
- harvey dying, was really expecting previously mentioned hatred of batman to lead nicely into bats 3...
- batman becoming pretty much a fugitive (although i did have an inkling it might end up like that part way through)
- fox resigning

thing that didn't surprise me
- heath being awesome

my favourite moments all reside around the joker
- his 'magic trick'
- nurse joker and the faulty explosives
- when batman was interrogating him

i'd give it 9/10 i think, but heath a 10/10

i think for the third one if they want to follow the same sort of pattern with villains

scarecrow/ra's al ghul
the joker/two face

a possible good selection for part 3 is

The Riddler/Hush

Whoa dude, don't read this thread if you haven't seen it yet!!!

I saw it Wednesday night and still feel deeply effected by it, the best I've seen at the cinema for many years. It was well written, violent, funny, action packed and had some incredible performances from Ledger, Eckhart, Bale, Caine, etc... only Maggie G as Rachel left me pretty cold.

As for the dude who started on Ledger earlier in this thread. You are of course entitled to your POV, but what the f*ck did it have to to with the topic of this thread? Pointless rant to stir s*it up if I ever I saw one.

Best bits - too many to mention really but I loved these...

- Opening heist - so thrilling and clever as it introduced the fact the Joker was always one step ahead

- The Jokers pencil trick - funny and shocking, what an entrance!

- The Batbike chase with HD in the police van, apparently they could only find one guy (some French stunt dude) could handle the Batbike it was so difficult to ride

- The hospital scene between the Joker and HD, and then the Jokers bumbling but explosive exit

- The two boat "showdown" - what a smart idea, loved the way it played out too

- Two Face's abduction of Gordon's family, that was really nail-biting, and I thought he might actually pop one of them, and that doesn't happen in movies much these days

And to all those who thought it was too long... are you insane???? LOL.

NAM187 - it was an ACCIDENTAL overdose of PRESCRIPTION drugs. Its not like he overdosed on Cocaine or anything, he took one too many pills for whatever reason he had and died as a result. It could happen to any of us. So dont act all self-righteous n **** - it was an accidental death. And just for the record anyone taking antidepressants or sleeping pills take them for a reason - he didnt get them from a back-alley, he got them from a doctor or a pharmacy - so theres a difference between overdosing on something illegal and overdosing on something that is supposed to HELP you.
