I replaced my PC hard drive with a 320GB hard drive.
With my old PC hard drive, I've tried using it as an external hard drive with three 2.5" enclosures, but it doesn't work with any.
Anyone have Any thoughts on maybe why?

You have to format it to FAT32 before the PS3 will see it.

No, I'm trying to use the PS3 hard drive as an external hard drive with a PC. I can connect the hard drive to a PC internally, just not externally.

When you have the hard drive in an external enclosure, maybe make sure it's sufficiently powered?
Sometimes it's necessary to connect it to 2 USB ports.

Yea, I'd like to know too. I wanted to backup my PS3 (before sending it back to Blacktown) but I couldn't format my Western Digital Passport to FAT32. It use to be FAT32, but I formatted it to NTFS. I couldn't use it as the backup destination until it was FAT32 again ...
Maybe it can only be done on XP? All the computers here are Vista now.

Hey WC_Loc, try this:
1. Go to ‘Run’ from the start button and type ‘cmd’ to bring up the command window.
2. Type this in the command line: format (Drive letter): /FS:FAT32
e.g. format D: /FS:FAT32
Let me know if that works (I don't have a spare hard drive to randomly format ...)

Oh, FYI ... I tried using the "External USB/FireWire Fat32 Formatting Utility" that's available on the Western Digital website (I have a WD Passport). Didn't work ><

Connect the drive to your pc,Right5 click on my computer, select manage, select disk management and delete the partition or create a new partition and do a quick format and then use a fat32 format program to format the drive to fat32
