Metal Gear Solid 4 \ MGS4 Ending - *SPOILER TOWN*

I just finished MGS4 for the first time. It was my first Metal Gear game and I ****ing loved it to say the least...

Anyways, I reckon the game would have ended so much better with the "drebin's patriots orders" scene and the "suicide scene" flipped and the end as Snake actually killing himself. That would have been amazing. I mean, after that when Big Boss came on, from there it was just so anti-climatic. To be honest, the scene where snake "killed" himself almost brought me to tears, it was utterly amazing.

Anyone else think the same?

Well, since it was your first MGS game, I guess that kinda explains your feelings. Major Zero, and Big boss (not sure if you know), are from MGS3....so that last scene is really "OMG OMG" since it fills in the remaining gaps in the story, as well as the fact that it naturally ties in the previous game.

Thus ending the game as an epic finale that collaborates each and every MGS game, from 1-4.

That I assumed. I was sure that the last bit was gap filling that's why I thought I would mention that it was my first MGS4 game.

After completing MGS4, I went back and actually played MGS1 and MGS2.

I plan to play MGS4 again, so I can understand everything a lot better since I've played the first two MGS games.

I'm assuming MGS3 doesn't affect much on the story? Or am I wrong?

So you're suggesting that I should finish MGS3 before playing MGS4 a second time?

It's better to play them in order. 3 wasn't supposed to make sense untill later. It's alot like pulp-fiction, how the scenes weren't in order. It's Kojima's artistic direction. No offence, but that's stupid advice.

yeh for sure, MGS3 is where the MGS saga all begins. It really give a great insite into the story of 4 and it just as important as the events of 1 and 2.

No, it's not. MGS was 'made' to 'not' be in order. It's how it's supposed to be played.

Star Wars is entirely different.

Ok. It's just that I think I've been lacking motivation to play MGS3 for some reason lol xD

I'll spend some time on it soon. Gotta finish it before my PS3 returns (approx 6-8 days)

so your telling me that he predicted mgs would be so big that in his mind he was gonna make the 4 games like that? I simply only asked a question so i could see proof, not being a smart arse.

Were you born a smart arse or do you want me to come down and teach you to not be a rude ****?

Mmmmm...
If people want to play it in order (1,2,3,4) then let them.
If people want to skip a chapter (1,2,4)
So its something small which to not fight over..
Plus you shouldn't say other people are stupid etc etc, because its just
flaming up the whole fight...
Not to start up again..
But i would do it via 1,2,3,4 IMO

I agree with Unhostile just do it in the order it was released. Otherwise if you play MGS3 first, your gonna get hit by a massive graphics burn when you play MGS1.

Guys there is no need to insult each other. If some one has a different opinion on the way the games should be played you should respect that. You don’t have to agree with them but you don’t have to flame them either.

@ Topher: The reason why the series has had such a powerful reception, is the story (obviously).

The thing that made MGS3 so powerful, was the "ooo's" and "ahhh's" when it filled gaps in the story, thus leaving more room for MGS4 to fill in those gaps.

It is fact that MGS3 came before in timeline, to MGS1 and 2. But in MGS1, Snake is sent to kill Big boss. MGS3 addresses Big Bosses backstory, and also makes some mentions as well provides info on the
patriots (MGS2).

As my example before. The movie pulp-fiction, if you've seen it. Basically, the movie scenes are in random order, but as it progresses...fills in the gaps. Hard to explain, but it's the only example I have, which is quite similar to the MGS seris.

Star Wars on the other hand, is different, because George Lucas purposely called 4,5,6......4,5,6 to leave room in the future, to make the backstory of DV(Darth Vader) etc.

Sorry for my previous comments, I did in fact mis-interpret your comment "do you have any proof" as you being difficult / annoying. As you explained, you were simply asking. Clearly a misunderstanding.

Anyways, if your looking for 'official' information, you can search various MGS sources and fansites, i'm sure they'll have more insight to that.

Take care and have fun,
~J-San

I'm really glad that MGS 4 got enough hype to get a bunch of new players in. So that more people can see how great the MGS games are
