well i have the update up and running now. i'd like to give you a report on the up scaling but i canrt sorry i dont have a HD tv so no upscae for me but every thing else seams cool,
theres a new slide show in the photo menu. its just like the photo album one but its more orgaised.
also i dont know how to get the media server things working but theres now a search for media server buton above Video, Music and Photo.
also it has Ps1/2 game smothing i had a quick look at GOW 1 and i couldnt realy tell any difference but i think i need to do more tests and or get a new TV

ok iv goten the media streaming to work and well its not quite what i expexted. im using twonkyvision that wiiman sugested eriler and the vids still need to be in a format that the ps3 can play (avc,mpeg) and they can be streamed over with out downloading. but its not media center like its just like browsing through your computer direct from the XMB handy but not super incredible.

is it just me, or is anybody else having trouble getting the update via system update. Sony havent published the file on the aussie site yet, and my PS3 wont find the update through system update at all still thinks 1.7 is the latest software.

You're not the only one having problems. I've been trying to update since I got home, but it still says I've got the latest firmware. Looks like Sony may have possibly taken it down, or too many people are trying to get it.

Those who did download it are soo lucky! Hopefully it will be available later tonight

Still wish it'd give us more options such as music during games, music playlists, video playlists, wallpapers, and what I'd like most ability to sort games.

Now I am stuck with Suduko, Lemmings, Super Rub a Dub as the first games on my list and games like Tekken DR and GTHD at the bottom of the list and I don't wanna have to download them all again.
