The Wii may be better in that way but the Motioning Sensor isnt the whole point of the PS3

Personally I prefer the way it is integrated in the ps3 package than with the wii. You don’t have to point at the dam screen to get it to work and ps3 usually has more or a general movement like shaking the guys off you in resistance were as the wii mote can be so so with movements.
Basically I just prefer a normal game pad to the wii mote and the motion sensing in the six axis is just a little bonus.

i prefer the ps3 pad anyday, it has it's own motion sensor, i agree longarms, i think it's implemented better in the ps3 pad personally.

six just like the ps3 i think
up/down
left/right
pitch/yaw

but it also has the sensor bar so it can detect where on the screen it is pointing and how far away from the screen it is.

my favortie thing about the wiimote is the speaker in it. its soo cool hearing a shot from your bow leave you hand and hit somthing from you tv speakers.

I dunno what your on buddy but you dont have to point at the screen for the motion sensing to work.. Your confusing the WiiMote Pointer (not motion sensing). The Wiimote motion sensing has Up/Down + Left/Right + Pitch/Yaw. Same as the PS3.

The WiiMote pointer works entirely different to that and isnt a feature that playstation has. Basicly the reason you have to point at the sensor bar is to determine where your aiming the Wiimote, it is also used to determine the distance (Forward & Back) the Wiimote is from the screen. Inside the sensor bar are 2 IR emitters which the WiiMote must be at least 3ft-8ft to see and determine distance and where your aiming.

I personally prefer the Wii motion sensor & Wii Pointer functionality over the ps3's six axis as it feels more normal to be able to move my hands indipendantly than just twisting a ps3 controller around with one hand. Perfect example is in COD3 when arming explosives , this was the singular most annoying part of the game spinning

Ummmm you dont have to swing your entire body around, not sure where you got that from but you can move as much or as little as you like when playing.

oh im not geting them confused. i have a wii and know how it works quite well im just saying that the sixaxis works independently of the screen and the dam wii mote needs to be pointing at the screen for a lot of the its functions. im talking like just trying to navigate meuns here it realy anoys me. so im saying the lack of the pointing feature and the relaince on buttons and anolog sticks dose it for me

The Wii doesn't use any "sixaxis" peripherals in the Wiimote, instead it uses a pointer (bluetooth and infrared) and sends out signals which are received by the sensor bar, the sensor bar then determines the direction the Wiimote is pointed at.

The PS3 controller on the other hand uses a "motion sensor" which is located inside the SIXAXIS controller. The motion sensor chip is able to tell the position of the controller, that is, how is it being held (eg tilted vertically or horizontally) - this information is then sent to the PS3's bluetooth receiver.

So the real advantage of the Wiimote is that it can be used in a 3D environment - the sensor bar can detect 360 degrees of the Wiimote's movement. However the disadvantage of the Wiimote is that it has to be used in front of the sensor bar, if it is not used in front of the sensor bar then you're basically screwed. The PS3's SIXAXIS on the other hand has an advantage that it can be used anywhere, without being directly in front of the PS3. The downside is that the controller cannot be used as a "moving stick" and its movement is limited.

no entice im sorry but you are wrong the wiimote has exatly the same motion senseing ablitlys that the ps3 dose ie free space movement. it DOSE NOT need the sensor bar to oporate like in wii tenis and wii bowling but it can ALSO be used as an on screen pointer with the sensor bar.

also the sensor bar gives it one more attribure depth. how far away from the screen you are.

so the wii dosnt always need the sensor bar it just uses it if the game/app need to be a pointer on the screen or if it wants to tell how far away you are.

point of case i got a strike in wii bowling whlist i was in a differnt room to the tv and wii.

I think motion sensing is a gimmick whichever console it's on. That includes 360. I really hope MS doesn't ever incorporate it into the controllers as standard... that cruddy vision cam is enough... the dual-thumbstick or keboard and mouse are the only really effective methods for games. All motion sensing does is add extra effort to games we've been playing fine with standard controllers for years, with far greater precision as well. The only thing that will outperform the dual-thumb controller or keyboard and mouse is when we can control the game directly with our minds, not waving the controller around in the air like a toy, sheesh...

And Longarms, It's DOES not "dose"... Well, at least you were consistent, lojl, I'll give you that...

I dont think motion sensor controllers r essential for all games,...*except Heavenly Sword * But i think its a nice add on nonetheless, it depends on how games use it, thats how i judge it.

I better not criticise the Wii, as Foetoid will get upset. and when his annoyed, you never hear the end of it, lojl.

This is totally correct. A lot of poeple misunderstand what the wiimote does. The only time you ever even need the sensor bar is for games where you need a pointer on-screen, like aiming a bow in Zelda, navigating the menus, or blocking super-strikes in Mario Strikers Charged. Mortal Kombat Armageddon (i use the GC controller anyway) most of Zelda, Tony Hawk Downhill Jam, almost every aspect of Mario Strikers and even Wii Sports do not even need the Sensor bar connected to play because of the internal sensors.

To clarify, the wiimote has 3 types of motion sensoring:

1. Tilting/rotating on any axis
2. Swinging/sliding in any direction (inc back/forward motions)
3. Functioning as an on screen cursor/crosshair.

Only the 3rd option needs the sensor bar.

Well i've heard you rant about motion sensoring in the past and i can respect your opinion, but now you are just outright lieing. Playing sports games (like in Wii Sports) are made all the more playable and accurate with the Wii-mote. "With far greater precision" is absurd. Playing Zelda on the Wii and firing arrows etc with the Wiimote pointed at the screen has become 10x more accurate than the other 3D Zeldas on previous consoles. You seem to think all Wii games even use the sensors. Mortal Kombat Armageddon and Smash Bros can use the GC controller, as can Metal Slug. Then we've got Tony Hawk and Sonic, which are just made easier an much more fun to play via Wiimote. Having an opinion is fine, but saying that the Wiimote is less accurate than dual-analog is a blatant lie, and that will be proven for FPS games with Metroid Prime 3

At first i decided not to comment on such a stupid battle, how the hell could ps3 beat nintendo in a motion sensing battle ?, before any pedantic ps3 fanboy has no other argument but to why i am even on this site, it is because i am checking out all the mysites. The title is wrong, unless you intended the whole of the wii to be up against the ps3's pathetic excuse for motion sensing capabilities. So when did they implement it into their console ?, hum would it be after they found out nintendo would be able to pull it of or when they found out that microsoft had already produced a HD compatible console with major success?, What have they come up with, a monster capable of something no-one wants or has already got. Due to recent reviews of the next gen consoles(well as loosely as that term can be used when the ps3 is involved) it has been concluded no-one wants blu-ray, everyone wants a wii due to its innovative control system, and not because they have walloped it in last second, and that sony is quickly loosing ground to nintendo, which i believe is the most staggering, sony has 6 companies tht are stated so on their website, yet its market value isnt six times better than nintendos one gaming company, no it isnt even double, it is almost teh same, and sony has a phone company and a film company. Also recent news shows that nintendo due to its major success with the DS and wii, has stock shares that are competing with most of japansrichest companys, it is more valuable than

vietnam, but where sdoes this leave sony with their abysmal success with the psp and ps3, sorry i nearly got them mixed up because their creativity skills are as bad as their estimated pricing system or their subtle stealing skills. lets take a look at the ps2 controller, o wait i mean the ps3 controller, sorry i got mixed up because they are exactly the same, but indeed the ps3 controller, so erm d-pad= nintendo had it before them, shoulder buttons=nintendo, yet nintendo have offered analogue shoulder buttons, analogue stick=nintendo, buttons=nintendo, rumble feature=nintendo, o wait no sorry they coulnt implement that could they ?, not after they had to, in the space of a week, make room for a feature not planned...

Luke said motion sensing isnt the whole point of the ps3, what is; high prices, technology nobody wants?

Longarms said in his personal opion the ps3 implementation was better, which i value, but how many examples of its use could you give, sorry was that one? the quick add on to call of duty, o yeah that one...

callan doesnt evenknow what hes talking about, its got its own motion sensor, as someone corrected, the sensor is not needed for the motion side of things, the sensor for the wii emits infraredlight to detect on screen movement, which is more than can be said for ps3's o i will just shake it about a bit and thats all i can do

thomas used one of thoose classic 'lost' arguments, "o no i will have graphics that cos

cost through the roof to bring me closer to the game but i dont want to play like it, sheesh what do you take me for"

longarms then said he prefers the primative methos of cycling through all the possible options to get to his desired one, so let me ask you do you use the touch pad with that laptp or do you press tab to go through every link till the one you want, yes thats what i though ;-)

Luke then makes it seem as if sonys plan was to make a controller that is mainly for motion sensing but can be cincealed as a simple plain 3 generation old controller, yes sure... and you can use the wiimote just as much as a cntroller as fgor the ps3 controller, it has an analogue stick(no need for a second one the infrared does all that), a d-pad, 4 buttons and two more for pause and various other commands

as longarms correctly pointed out entice was talking a load of **** with his 'advantages' for the ps3, well done to you longarms with that strike btw =)

iddqd then claimed he wants to live only experiencing the same hardware in different shells for the rest of his life, i agree with him on being the mouse and keyboard combination being good but the two thumbsticks, youre going wrong there mate...

Now i do realise i have ranted on abit but i feel slightly better for at least trying to make you fools, who believe ps3 is better at motion sensing and other attributes, see the light, and dont worry, no need to criticise my bad speeling

The cube was a failure and cube 1.5 will also be a failure. Once the wii's ps2 ports dry up there will be nothing but nintendoes exclusives, which are even being sold off to other developers with turd like results eg hudsons mario party 8. People that own a wii are either under the age of 10, a girl, a casual gamer, or hopelessly in denial.
Face it nintendo screwed you with a gimmick wrapped in propaganda just accept this sell the whizz and join the current gen ie ps3 and 360 and quit living in the past. Everything about the wii reeks off cheapness im stunned at how many people fell for their b.s, at least people are starting to sell their wii's now.
