PS3 News \ Sony Announces Official Wireless Keypad

Last night, at their Lipzig Games Convention press conference. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced, that they will be making and distributing an official wireless keypad.

The device pictured above will attach to a Sixaxis or Dual Shock 3 controller And features shortcut buttons. Which will bring up various parts of the in-game XMB automatically for quicker in-game messaging. The pad can also be used as a mouse, with the whole face of the keyboard acting as a large touch pad. Which should allow for faster web browsing as well as possible use in future games

The pad will arrive world wide late November and will support all PS3 XMB functions as well as titles such as HOME and Little Big Planet. No Pricing details have been given yet.

yeh it is quite a wonder why they didn't make it fit below the control like the 360's but i guess it mite be more comfortable up top?

anyways add me to the 'I'm gettin one as soon as they're released' list coz this is one thing i have been waiting for from Sony! AWESOME stuff.. keep these sorta things coming Sony, 360 is already gettin left behind!

360 one looks much more functional (and better), but i guess if the ps3 one was in the same spot as the 360 one ms would have a cry. The mouse function sounds kinda gay when you can just use a mouse with the ps3 already

yeh I'm a bit intrigued about how that works too, from the description it sounds like you can move your finger over the keys and it works like a touch pad that way.
