or if you got nero 7, find your "nero media home" find the folder u wanna put as server. set the transcoding options video part to mpeg-1 or something, start server and it should pop up on ur ps3.

Tried all that still can't get it working again , tried it with nero as well as wmp11 why does it keep saying UPnP Not Available when I have it activated on my router?
This is so frustrating

I'm wired now , I have same drama with UPnP business , sorted out the Nat type a while ago by opening up certain ports on my router, but this media server thing , is bugging me so much , I suppose because it comes and goes it's really wierd it notices my ps3 sometimes and not others well about 3 times it has come on and I didn't do a dam thing , least I can remember ?????

Tips for TVersity:-
1) Download Latest Version
download.tversity.com/

2) Install
3) Make sure you put the Media Server into the "Allow" list for Windows Firewall
4) Make sure you configure the transcoder and network settings correctly.
5) If you dont have codecs you wont see videos

- Uninstall FFDShow after you finish TVersisty install
- Reboot
- Download & Install Latest FFDShow
- Reboot
6) Crank up TVersity and add some media
7) TEST!!! Via the Web Browser on ya PS3, open up the URL to your machine with TVersity on it eg: 192.168.1.1 <- 192.168.1.1 being your pc's IP addy
I'll post a fresh how to later when i get home.

Did it work for you fluxxie?

Ive been using tversity really well since I got my ps3. I found the trick for me was to set up the firewall correctly.I wont go any further as you may have fixed it already anyway!!?

Yeah Im playing in 5-10 probably.
Err - did you set the firewall exception to the actual file mediaserver.exe in your appropriate program files directry NOT the Tversity general exception for the firewall - thats what finally got it to work for me..?

yep did that I even rolled back media player 11 deleted all library and rebuilt it because someone said that if you use drag and drop method into librbry that it will corrupt all files and ps3 won't reg them , also uninstalled tversty , rolled back my pc through a restore to the date that I had it working port forded every port disabled everything still nudda?

So your connected through a router with a 4 port switch built in or something? Is it set to auto assign IP addresses from the router?

Check: - run/cmd then ipconfig from the dos menu to check whether your ps3 has been given an IP from the router.

I assume it does if you play online games - so

- check firewall - ok
- check settings on PS3 - set to allow Media server? in Network settings?
- if yes then check file sharing turned on in Windows - this should be done auto if you use Tversity but might be required just for WMP11

Yes but that is a closed network between your own computer and the PS3 - the source data has ALREADY been downloaded to your pcs hard drive - that download is what counts.

Think about how the Ps3 access the data - either directly off its hard drive, disc or streamed from a pc ie WMP11 or Tversity etc. The streaming option (which is what you seem to be referring to) just pushes the music or video data (for example) you've already downloaded through your router. even if everything is plugged i with a ethernet switch (like my stuff)

The Ps3 is just accessing or copying that data to its own hard drive - the ps3 doesnt re-download it from wherever you originally downloaded it from

Trust me, the only way your doing MORE download is if you are accessing it from the Ps3 internet browser or the PSN store etc.

Am I supposed to go into settings and check - allow new computer/devices automatically?

Because windows doesn't recommend that...

And also the main problem here is my pc isn't recognising the ps3.

I'm using a netgear wireless router.

Yep Vista works a treat with the PS3, just go to Control panel > Network sharing, then select Media Sharing, then restart your computer and PS3.
